At the machine
A useful test beats a good sales pitch.
Your machine. Your file. Your standard.
Start with a familiar design.
Use a design you already produce on your current cap. Keep a reference stitch-out beside the test cap.
Record the setup.
- Cap style, color and lot if available
- Machine and cap frame
- Design width, height and stitch count
- Machine speed, needle and thread
- Backing, topping and any setup changes
Look beyond the front.
Check registration, puckering, seam behavior and the back of the embroidery. Compare the fit and finish before and after decoration.
Evaluate each method separately.
A flat embroidery result does not establish puff, patch or heat-application suitability. Test the decoration you actually intend to sell and follow equipment and material guidance.
Keep the evidence.
Photograph the front, inside and side profile. Note any rejects or extra handling. Repeat the test before standardizing.
